AMS Neutral Alexander S. Polsky Named To California Bar Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee

Alexander S. Polsky, Esq., a mediator, arbitrator and discovery referee with JAMS, the nation’s largest private provider of ADR services, has been appointed to the California State Bar’s Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution. Mr. Polsky will begin his three-year term in September.
The California Bar Association’s Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution is composed of a diverse group of highly successful practitioners and other professionals with expertise in the field. The committee analyzes and comments on proposals relating to ADR, drafts proposals relating to ADR for consideration by the organization’s Board of Governors, and identifies issues concerning the relationship of ADR to the practice of law, the administration of justice and improving access to justice. The Committee is also responsible for planning and administering ADR educational programs, and encourages attorneys involved in dispute resolution to become active participants in the California State Bar, which is one of the nation’s largest with more than 200,000 members.

“I am honored to become a part of this dedicated committee and I look forward to working with its talented members,” said Mr. Polsky. “With the surge in the use of ADR services, the role of the Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution in training and educating California Bar Association members is more critical than ever.”

Mr. Polsky has resolved thousands of complex commercial and serious injury disputes throughout his career. He is known for his fairness as an arbitrator and his tenacity and commitment as a mediator, traits that led to his recognition as a Top California Neutral by the Daily Journal in recent years. He has also been designated as a Southern California Super Lawyer by Law & Politics Magazine in the area of alternative dispute resolution.

Mr. Polsky takes an active role in numerous academic and professional activities. He is a Fellow at the International Academy of Mediators, and is the past Director of the Orange County Bar Association. A sought after negotiation skills trainer who has lectured throughout the United States, Mr. Polsky is an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Southern California, where he teaches a course he designed on ADR and negotiation. In addition, he is an adjunct Professor of Law at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law.
